In Südtirol gibt es nur sehr wenige Aulandschaften. Hier an der Ahr gewinnen wir einen Einblick in diesen meist wenig beachteten, wasserreichen Lebensraum und treffen auf besondere Pflanzen und Tiere.
In unmittelbarer Nähe der Stadt Bruneck geht es am orografisch linken Uferweg durch die Stegener und Jörgener Ahrauen, die sich als überraschend intakte Naturlandschaft in einer landwirtschaftlich genutzten Umgebung präsentieren. Das Tal, durch das sich die Ahr schlängelt, bevor sie wenig später in die Rienz mündet, wurde von Eiszeitgletschern vorgeformt und danach mit Gesteinsschutt aus den Bergen aufgefüllt. Hier befindet sich eine wahre Naturoase, eine der intaktesten und schönsten Flusslandschaften Südtirols mit einer ganz eigenen und vielfältigen Fauna und Flora. Diese kann bei einem einfachen Spaziergang entdeckt werden. Eine Aussichtsplattform bietet einen herrlichen Ausblick und eine tolle Beobachtungsposition. Mit etwas Glück lässt sich sogar der ebenso schöne wie scheue Eisvogel erspähen.

La valle nella quale si snoda l’Aurino poco prima di confluire nella Rienza si è formata nell’era glaciale per l’azione dei ghiacciai ed è stata poi riempita dai detriti rocciosi franati dalle montagne. Qui si trova un’autentica oasi naturale, uno dei paesaggi fluviali più integri e belli di tutto l’Alto Adige con una varietà unica di flora e fauna, da scoprire con una semplice passeggiata a piedi. Una piattaforma panoramica offre una vista magnifica e costituisce un favoloso punto d’osservazione. Con un po’ di fortuna si può avvistare anche il martin pescatore, bello quanto schivo.

La nostra breve escursione comincia dal cimitero della chiesa di San Nicolò, sulla circonvallazione nord di Brunico. Sotto il nuovo ponte per Falzes, dirigendosi verso nord, si entra direttamente nel Biotopo degli Ontaneti dell’Aurino di Stegona, una vera perla per gli amanti della natura. Da qui in poi bisogna tenere gli occhi aperti perché la flora e la fauna riservano molte sorprese, ma spesso le tengono ben nascoste. Quando il fiume forma un’ansa, restiamo sul sentiero proseguendo verso est fino alla piattaforma panoramica “Ahrblick”, sospesa nel vuoto sopra la seconda ansa dell’Aurino. Per tornare indietro, seguiamo l’altro dei due sentieri.
