Der Schulbau ist Teil des Dorferneuerungskonzeptes mit öffentlichen Nutzungen um einen neuen Dorfplatz. Auf dieser piazzetta verdichtet sich die Ortmitte mit Schule, Turnhalle und dem Gasthaus Schwarzer Adler als Sitz der Vereine – nur schmale Durchgänge in die Gärten und den Schulhof trennen die Gebäude. Der Maßstab des Schulneubaus orientiert sich an den bestehenden Volumen der Bauten im Dorf. Es ist ein massiver Mauerwerksbau mit Giebeldach, grob verputzen Fassaden und fein geglätteten Fensterleibungen, die mit ihren Anschrägungen bereits Architekturelemente des nahen Engadin aufnehmen. Der Bau löst sich aus starrer Blockhaftigkeit mit unterschiedlichen Dachneigungen und der weichen Fassadenbiegung entlang dem Straßenraum. Die großen Fensteröffnungen weisen auf die Innenräume, die mit feinen Holzarbeiten und Farbakzenten geradezu wohnlich ausgestattet sind.

The school building forms part of the village-renewal concept, with public revolving around a new village square. The village center is consolidated onto this piazzetta, with the school, gym and the Schwarzer Adler tavern as the headquarters of the associations; the buildings are separated only by narrow passageways in the gardens and schoolyard. The scale of the new school building is oriented towards the existing volumes of the buildings in the village. It is a solid masonry construction with gabled roof, rough plaster facades, and finely smoothed window embrasures that, with their bevels, take on architectural elements of the nearby Engadine Valley. The construction avoids rigid blockiness through varying roof pitches and the soft inflection of the facade along the street space. The large window openings show interiors with fine woodwork and color accents, furnished in a way that is downright cozy.

La scuola fa parte di un piano di riqualificazione del centro abitato che prevedeva di riunire alcune funzioni pubbliche attorno a una nuova, piccola piazza. Qui si raggruppano l’edificio scolastico, la palestra e l’ex albergo Schwarzer Adler riutilizzato come sede delle associazioni locali, creando un luogo centrale ad alta densità funzionale. I corpi di fabbrica sono molto vicini tra loro, al punto che li separano solo alcuni stretti percorsi nei giardini e il cortile della scuola. La volumetria della nuova struttura fa riferimento all’edilizia tipica del paese: si tratta di un blocco massiccio con tetto a falde, facciate a intonaco ruvido e cornici lisce attorno alle finestre, tagliate obliquamente a richiamare l’architettura tradizionale della vicina Engadina. L’edificio si svincola da ogni rigidità grazie alle pendenze variate del tetto e alla lieve piegatura della facciata prospiciente la strada. Dalle grandi finestre si intravvedono interni dal comfort quasi domestico, con eleganti arredi in legno e misurati accenti cromatici.
