Burgeis hat seinen dörflichen Charakter bisher bewahren können. Das traditionelle Hotel Weisses Kreuz liegt in der Mitte des Ortes auf einem sehr beengten Grundstück. Dennoch konnten die Erweiterungen und Umbauten, mit ihren großzügigen Wellnessanlagen und neuen Suiten, mit sensibler Rücksicht auf den historischen Bestand beispielhaft untergebracht werden. Auch der zum Hotel gehörende und ihm gegenüberliegende Ansitz „Zum Löwen“ wurde renoviert und umgebaut. Hierbei wurde das Gebäude durch einen modernen Anbau, in dem ein Bistro und ein Laden untergebracht wurden, geschickt erweitert. Dadurch wurde der Platz mit seinem Brunnen zur wirklichen Dorfmitte gewandelt. Die denkmalgeschützten Fassaden beider Häuser wurden erhalten, ebenso die schönen getäfelten Räume im „Löwen“: Alle neuen Einbauten entsprechen hingegen den Bedürfnissen eines modernen Hotels und wurden im Sinne bester moderner Architektur mit nachhaltigen Materialien gestaltet.

Burgeis had managed to maintain its village-like character up to the present day. The traditional Weisses Kreuz Hotel lies centrally on a very small piece of land. The extensions and conversions, including its spacious spa area and new suites, have been admirably incorporated as part of the hotel, they sensitively take into account the survival of historical aspects. Zum Löwen, situated opposite, also belongs to the hotel and was renovated and reconstructed. The building was skillfully extended, the new extension now being home to a bistro and shop. This transformed the square with its fountain into a real village center. The listed facades of both houses were kept, as were the beautifully paneled rooms in the Löwen: all new buildings show the fitting of a modern hotel and are designed to be the best in modern architecture by the use of sustainable materials.

Burgusio ha conservato fino a oggi il suo carattere di piccolo borgo. L’albergo storico Weisses Kreuz (Croce bianca) sorge al centro del paese su un lotto alquanto sacrificato. Ciò non ha impedito la realizzazione di un intervento di ristrutturazione e ampliamento, con una grande area wellness e alcune suite, che risulta esemplare per la capacità di rispettare la materia storica. Anche la residenza “Zum Löwen” (Al leone), un palazzo di pertinenza dell’albergo al di là della piazza, è stata rinnovata e ristrutturata. L’edificio è stato ampliato con intelligenza mediante l’aggiunta di un corpo di fabbrica in cui trovano posto un bistrò e un negozio, trasformando la piazza con la fontana nel vero centro del paese. Le facciate di entrambi i palazzi sono state conservate in quanto soggette a tutela monumentale, così come le belle stanze della residenza rivestite di pannellature in legno. I volumi di nuova costruzione soddisfano invece le esigenze di un albergo moderno, utilizzando materiali sostenibili secondo lo spirito della migliore architettura contemporanea.

Invece di demolire e ricostruire ex novo si è deciso di riqualificare e dunque di conservare l’atmosfera irripetibile di un’architettura ricca di storia. In fondo è proprio questa identità inconfondibile che attira così tanti ospiti in Alto Adige.
